Electrical Designer(EPlan)

Our client is a global leader in custom automation and advanced manufacturing solutions. They are seeking a technically strong Electrical Designer with some EPLAN experience and a proven background in machine building and industrial automation environments.

This is an opportunity to work on highly engineered, one-of-a-kind automation projects where your expertise with EPLAN and electrical design directly impacts machine performance, safety, manufacturability, and customer success.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Design electrical control systems for custom automated equipment and machine-building projects.
  • Create electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials using EPLAN.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation and electrical design standards within the EPLAN environment.
  • Perform engineering calculations including:
  • Power distribution and load calculations
  • Short-circuit current ratings (SCCR)
  • Panel heat-loss and cooling calculations
  • Select and integrate automation hardware
  • Safety devices and control components
  • Collaborate with mechanical, controls, software, and project engineering teams.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical justification for design decisions.
  • Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation activities as required.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and customer requirements.

Mandatory Requirements

Minimum 4 years of Electrical Design experience in one or more of the following:

  • Machine Building
  • Industrial Automation
  • Advanced Manufacturing Equipment
  • Special Purpose Machinery
  • Advanced proficiency with EPLAN and experience developing complete machine electrical design packages.
  • Experience designing industrial control panels and machine electrical systems.
  • Experience performing electrical engineering calculations such as power loading, SCCR, and enclosure thermal calculations.
  • Knowledge of CSA, UL508A, NFPA 79, or equivalent industrial electrical standards.
  • Experience supporting commissioning or startup activities.
  • Experience creating standardized electrical design libraries and templates within EPLAN.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in:
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering Technology
  • computer engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Systems Engineering
  • Related discipline
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation components including PLCs, sensors, motion control, robotics, and machine safety systems.
  • Ability to communicate and defend technical design decisions with engineers, customers, and project stakeholders.
