Full job description

About Us

Vancouver General Contractors is a multi-award-winning design-build company specializing in complete home renovations, additions, and custom home builds across Metro Vancouver. Since 2011, we've built our reputation on one thing: taking care of our clients through every step of their construction experience. We're a close-knit team that works hard, backs each other up, and takes real pride in the homes we deliver.

The Role

We're looking for a Junior Interior Designer to join our team and support our Interior Designer with material selections and everything that happens behind the scenes to keep a design project moving.

This is an entry-level position. You don't need years of experience; you need a good eye, a strong work ethic, and a real interest in learning how residential design and construction come together. You'll get hands-on exposure to real renovation and custom home projects from day one, and we'll train you on the tools and processes we use, including Revit.

What You'll Do

  • Assist our Interior Designer with material and finish selections (tile, flooring, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting, hardware, paint, and more)
  • Source products and samples, and keep our sample library organized and current
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers to request quotes, confirm pricing, check lead times, and track orders
  • Enter and maintain project, client, and product information in our CRM
  • Correspond with clients by email and phone to schedule selection meetings, follow up on decisions, and share updates
  • Prepare selection sheets, specification documents, and presentation boards
  • Learn Revit and support the design team with drawings and documentation as your skills grow
  • Help coordinate deliverables between the design team, project managers, and trades
  • Attend showroom visits and occasional site visits

Who You Are

  • Organized and detail-oriented — you keep track of a lot of moving parts without dropping any
  • A clear, friendly communicator, comfortable on the phone and over email with clients and vendors alike
  • Eager to learn — you ask questions, take notes, and pick things up quickly
  • Reliable and able to manage your time when juggling several projects at once
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Someone who genuinely enjoys interior design and wants to build a career in it

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Interior Design (or currently completing one), or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Strong interest in residential renovations and home construction
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Google Workspace
  • Comfortable learning new software — CRM experience is an asset, and Revit is a plus (but we'll teach you)
  • Any customer service, sales, retail, or administrative experience is considered an asset

What We Offer

  • Real mentorship from an experienced design and construction team
  • Hands-on training on Revit, our CRM, and our design-build process
  • A clear path to grow into an Interior Designer role
  • Extended health care and dental care
  • Company events
  • Monday to Friday

How to Apply

If this sounds like the right fit, send us your resume, a short note about why you're interested, and a portfolio or school projects if you have them. We'd love to hear from you.

VGC believes in a supportive culture built on collaboration and teamwork. We're an equal opportunity employer and welcome applications from everyone.
