Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly experienced Senior Architect to lead complex building projects in our Ottawa office. This is a key leadership role in our established multidisciplinary and growing team, focused on Alternative Delivery projects (Design-Build, IPD, P3, MDB) for both the public and private sector clients.
- Lead architectural design and project delivery on Alternative Delivery projects
- Serve as the primary client interface, managing expectations and building strong relationships
- Provide strategic oversight for multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring design intent is realized from concept through construction
- Prepare and review design documentation, construction details, specifications, and cost estimates
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical leadership within the team
- Collaborate with internal and external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
- Contribute to business development, proposals, and project planning initiatives
- Ensure compliance with the Ontario Building Code and established architectural standards
- Lead projects through all phases of delivery (pre-design, schematic design, design development, and construction documents)
- Manage consultant coordination, schedules, and deliverables under tight deadlines
- Prepare and coordinate the development of reports, drawings, specifications, and presentation materials
- Manage client relationships and participate in or facilitate meetings with clients, stakeholders, and end users
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
- Licensed Architect with the OAA, or licensed in another province with eligibility to obtain OAA licensure
- 6+ years of experience on complex building projects
- Proven experience with Alternative Delivery models (Design-Build, IPD, P3, MDB)
- Proficiency in Revit
- Client-facing experience with strong communication and presentation skills
- Eligible for security clearance(s)
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Architecture or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of experience on complex building projects
- Experience with Federal or Defense projects
- Strong knowledge of the National Building Code and Ontario Building Code, as well as building systems
- Experience in project management for large-scale projects
- High level of proficiency in Revit, with working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Knowledge of Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, and visualization tools such as Enscape and V-Ray
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Bluebeam
- Experience with permitting and approvals processes in Canadian municipalities
- Ability to lead design workshops, engage with end-users, and deliver client presentations
- French is considered an asset
