FreshPoint, a division of Sysco, is the largest produce distributor in North America, we focus on bringing fresh food from the farmer's field to our customers' kitchens. FreshPoint operations span more than 30+ distribution centers in the US and Canada. We target regional and national foodservice customers in such markets as catering, healthcare, hospitality, restaurants, and schools. Purpose

The Sales Consultant is responsible for strategic account planning, development of new business, growing account portfolio, and retaining customer accounts to achieve profitable sales growth within assigned territory

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop assigned customer base.
  • Evaluate customer business needs and analyze market trends to develop customer centric product and service solutions.
  • Negotiate, manage, and maintain profitable margins to align with business objectives.
  • Work closely with purchasing team to address pricing, product issues, upcoming large orders, or discontinuation of menu item or product line.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining necessary company and customer files.
  • Monitor and analyze market conditions, product innovations, and competitor's products and sales; share information with customers as part of value-added service provided.
  • Work closely with Merchandising, Operations and Management to fulfill orders and provide quality service to customers.
  • Take customer orders via phone, email, and other channels.
  • Review and analyze sales growth, margin, and penetration reports.
  • Maintain and manage individual bids.
  • Distribute weekly pricelists' and promotions.
  • Work on Daily Specials and Clearance Items daily.
  • Conduct warehouse walkthroughs and physical inventory count on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • Communicate with internal teams on information or feedback received from customers regarding pricing, supplies, quality issues and more.
  • Track activities and results, and collaborate on opportunities, and champion the team selling process.
  • May be required to work non-traditional work hours, while also providing a level of individual autonomy to support and successfully meet customer needs.
  • Complies with Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
  • Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Certifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in related discipline or an additional 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree

Experience

2+ years of experience in Food Industry

Physical Demands

  • Requires driving to customer accounts.
  • May be required in the warehouse including cooler areas to validate product count.
  • Sales Consultants will be required to travel from time-to-time.
