The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Superintendent to lead bridge construction projects throughout British Columbia and Western Canada. This position requires a strong field presence and extensive experience managing bridge construction operations, including concrete formwork, steel erection, pile driving, falsework systems, and structural concrete works.

As Superintendent, you will be responsible for directing day-to-day field operations, coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Project Execution

· Lead and supervise all on-site bridge construction activities.

· Plan, coordinate, and direct field operations to achieve project schedules and milestones.

· Manage bridge construction crews, subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment resources.

· Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.

· Maintain a strong field presence and provide leadership to all site personnel.

· Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Surveyors, and Quality Control personnel.

Construction Operations

· Oversee bridge construction activities including:

-Pile driving and deep foundation installation

-Structural concrete placement

-Formwork and falsework systems

-Reinforcing steel installation

-Structural steel and girder erection

-Deck construction and finishing works

· Coordinate work sequencing to maximize productivity and minimize delays.

· Review construction drawings, specifications, and work plans with site personnel.

· Monitor production rates and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.

· Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of equipment and resources.

Schedule & Resource Management

· Develop and implement short-term and long-term work plans.

· Monitor project progress and adjust field operations as required to meet schedule commitments.

· Coordinate manpower requirements and equipment allocation.

· Participate in project planning meetings and scheduling reviews.

· Identify and mitigate potential impacts to project timelines.

Quality & Technical Oversight

· Ensure all work complies with project specifications, drawings, and contract requirements.

· Support Quality Control personnel in implementing inspection and testing programs.

· Review and address deficiencies in a timely manner.

· Assist with constructability reviews and field engineering challenges.

· Maintain accurate project records, daily reports, and site documentation.

Safety Leadership

· Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all operations.

· Ensure compliance with company safety programs, regulations, and site-specific requirements.

· Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and hazard assessments.

· Mentor crews and supervisors in safe work practices and procedures.

· Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions when required.

Qualifications & Skills

Experience

· 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction.

· Minimum 5 years of experience in a Superintendent or senior supervisory role.

· Demonstrated experience constructing bridges, transportation infrastructure, or major civil works.

· Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary construction crews and subcontractors.

Technical Expertise

· Strong understanding of bridge construction methods including:

-Structural concrete construction

-Formwork and falsework systems

-Reinforcing steel installation

-Structural steel and girder erection

-Pile driving and deep foundations

· Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and engineering

· documents.

· Knowledge of construction scheduling, productivity tracking, and project controls.

· Strong understanding of heavy equipment and bridge construction means and methods.

Leadership & Communication

· Strong leadership and team-building abilities.

· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to effectively coordinate multiple crews and activities simultaneously.

· Strong communication skills with clients, consultants, project teams, and field personnel.

· Ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced construction environments.

Certifications & Licenses

· Valid Class 5 Driver's License (required).

· CSTS, WHMIS, and Ground Disturbance certification considered assets.

· First Aid certification considered an asset.

· Additional supervisory or safety training is considered an asset.
