Kitchen Chef / Sous Chef

Yakitori Momiji – Yorkville, Toronto

Yakitori Momiji is a new high-end yakitori omakase restaurant opening in Yorkville, Toronto. We are looking for passionate chefs who take pride in craftsmanship, attention to detail, and continuous improvement.

Our menu focuses entirely on chicken, prepared using traditional Japanese techniques and grilled over premium binchotan charcoal. Every guest sits at the counter for an intimate omakase experience where precision and consistency matter.

Compensation

  • Base pay starts at the Ontario minimum wage.
  • Employees participate in the restaurant’s tip-sharing program.
  • Tip distribution is performance-based and reflects each team member’s skills, contribution, and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients for daily service.
  • Butcher and portion whole chickens.
  • Skewer a variety of yakitori cuts.
  • Grill over premium binchotan charcoal.
  • Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards.
  • Manage inventory and assist with ordering.
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef to maintain quality and consistency.
  • Assist with menu development and daily specials.
  • Train and support junior kitchen staff (Sous Chef).

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of professional kitchen experience.
  • Experience with Japanese cuisine is an asset.
  • Yakitori experience is an asset but not required.
  • Strong knife skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
