The Community Services (CS) department at Fred Victor is a multi-service, multi-site structure that encompasses the 40
Oak Community HUB and community programs, Employment and Training Services, Drop-Ins, Keep Cool Programs, and
Food Services. Additionally, it operates social purpose enterprise with catering and community outreach services and
spearheads a significant Peer Training Initiative that prioritizes the involvement of individuals with lived experience.
Fred Victor Drop-In programs are essential components of Community Services outreach and support initiatives. By
prioritizing low-barrier services through a harm reduction lens, we aim to minimize barriers and promote accessibility for
all individuals. The Drop-In programs offer a low-threshold drop-in environment that includes information and referral
services, informal counseling and support, and access to a range of community services. These services consist of
internally provided programs by Fred Victor as well as collaborations with community service partners to address the
impacts of poverty and homelessness. Furthermore, our Drop-In programs actively engage in community development
and social recreation programs as part of our holistic approach to community well-being.

What You Will Do:
- Collaborate with a diverse Community Services team to ensure seamless day-to-day operations of the 40 Oak
- Cultivate a safe and supportive environment for individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, social isolation,
- Build positive relationships with Drop-In participants using a trauma-informed, harm-reduction and client-
- Intervene early and proactively in potential crisis or conflict situations to address challenges and promote
- Offer information, referrals, and advocacy services within Fred Victor and external organizations to meet diverse
- Clearly communicate with individuals accessing the drop-in center and actively listen to their needs.
- Provide detailed information about the range of programs and services available at Fred Victor, such as case
health services.
- Conduct thorough assessments to understand each individual's unique circumstances and guide them towards
- Assist participants in navigating referrals to internal and external organizations that can address their specific
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge about the various community resources and services available to effectively
- Organize and facilitate community outings and activities to foster social connections, enhance community
- Collaborate with partners to deliver integrated services within the drop-in center, fostering a seamless and
- Assist with the set up and tear down of the program each day.
- Support the community meal program.
- Manage emergency situations as needed.
- Enter all relevant information into Fred Victor client database, ensuring accurate documentation of participant
What You Bring to the Team:
- Diploma/Degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years’ experience in the non-profit, community-based sector with an awareness of relevant issues
- Solid experience engaging individuals facing multiple barriers and demonstrated understanding of and
- Demonstrated crisis prevention/management skills
- Extensive experience offering services within a harm reduction, low barrier framework
