Job Overview

The role

You'll be the last set of eyes on electronic assemblies before they ship. Working from our internal inspection procedures, you'll examine populated printed circuit boards, catch and classify defects, and correct them at the bench yourself — so you see the problem through from find to fix.

Day to day you will:

  • Inspect PCB assemblies against workmanship standards and customer-specific requirements
  • Identify, document, and classify defects (solder quality, component placement and orientation, polarity, damage, contamination)
  • Rework and repair assemblies using soldering and de-soldering equipment — through-hole and surface-mount component removal and replacement
  • Run simple electrical tests using our automated test equipment
  • Feed defect trends back to production so problems get fixed upstream, not just at final QC
  • Follow ESD handling procedures throughout

What you need

  • Ability to perform close, detailed visual inspection for extended periods, including under magnification (with or without corrective lenses)
  • Steady hands and fine motor control for handling small components
  • Ability to read and follow detailed written work instructions in English
  • Comfort with careful, repetitive, precision work — and the discipline to hold the standard on the last board of the day the same as the first

Nice to have (not required)

  • Experience inspecting or assembling electronic assemblies
  • IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) or IPC J-STD-001 certification
  • Hand soldering / rework experience, including SMT

No electronics background? Still apply. We train. Some of our strongest inspectors came from other precision hands-on work — jewellery, dental lab, watch repair, tailoring, model building, nail technician. If you have the eye and the hands, we can teach you the boards.

Why Micro Consulting

  • 41 years in business. We're an engineering and manufacturing company, which means steady work and no scrambling for the next contract.
  • Training provided, including a path to IPC certification — a credential that stays with you for your whole career.
  • A small enough shop that your work is visible. You'll talk directly to the engineers who designed what you're inspecting.

To apply

Send your resume No cover letter needed — tell us in two or three sentences what precision work you've done before.

We review every application and will respond either way.

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
