Overview
We are seeking a skilled Freelance Interpreter to provide accurate and culturally sensitive language interpretation services across various settings. This role offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work with diverse clients, including those requiring specialized interpretation for the languages ( Tigrinya, Tigre, Arabic, Amharic, Oromo) to English. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in multiple languages, possess excellent communication skills, and have a strong understanding of linguistics and translation practices. This position is perfect for bilingual professionals passionate about bridging language gaps and facilitating effective communication.

N.B - This opportunity is only for those interested on getting additional income in their free times, it will be on call when ever it is needed. Salary will be discussed according to the personal experiences and also depending on the work requested ( in person, or on call).

Duties

  • Provide real-time interpretation between English and other languages, including ( Tigrinya, Tigre, Arabic, Amharic, Oromo) in various contexts such as medical, legal, educational, or business settings.
  • Translate written documents accurately while maintaining the original tone and intent.
  • Assist clients by conveying messages clearly and effectively across language barriers.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Utilize writing skills to prepare translated materials or summaries when required.
  • Collaborate with clients and organizations to understand specific interpretation needs and adapt accordingly.
  • Stay updated on linguistic trends, terminology, and cultural nuances relevant to interpretation work.

Experience

  • Proven experience in interpretation or translation, preferably in a professional setting.
  • Multilingual proficiency, including fluency in English and at least one additional language;
  • Strong understanding of linguistics principles and translation techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret accurately under pressure while maintaining clarity and professionalism.
  • Familiarity with writing skills relevant to translation work.
  • Prior experience working as a freelance interpreter or in similar roles is advantageous but not mandatory; if you have the certificates or willing to get the training. ( We can guide you on how to get the training )
