DUTIES
Babcock & Wilcox FPS Inc. Inc. is looking for a dynamic and energetic team player who enjoys getting into the details to help an operation succeed and thrives on adding value to the supply chain. We are a busy manufacturing shop that needs the supporting expertise of a Senior Buyer with proven hands on experience.
The Company’s Senior Buyer is responsible to take the lead on supply chain management activities. Reporting to the VP Finance, this is a collaborative role that works as part of a team to ensure raw materials, products, and services are purchased in a timely and cost effective manner. This role needs to balance the purchasing plan with the management of the Company’s inventory on hand. Using our SYSPRO ERP business software to determine the ever-changing optimal level of goods on hand and the related reorder quantities is an important area of focus. You must be very comfortable in a computerized setting and be able to analyze our ERP’s supply chain processes and implement any necessary changes.
The Senior Buyer develops and leverages relationships with suppliers, key management staff, and co-workers to add value to the Company’s manufacturing processes. Identifying opportunities for improvements and savings is a core responsibility of the role.
Key responsibilities include:
Start to finish Supply Chain management including:
· Developing relationships with key suppliers of raw materials, products and services
· Ensuring seamless purchase of goods to meet production schedule demands without delays
· Determine optimal min/max and reorder quantities for the Company’s stock
o Analyze supply lead times and usage patterns to set minimum on hand quantities
o Analyze bulk purchase discounts to set maximum on hand quantities/minimum order quantities
o Analyze purchasing patterns to optimize reorder quantities and min/max levels
· Negotiating supply contracts with suppliers
· Identifying and implementing procedures for maximizing the use of ERP software SYSPRO
· Prepare monthly report to management highlighting purchasing activities and plans
· Establishing and managing performance standards for key suppliers
· Providing leadership and proactive problem solving
· Obtain quotes as required and periodically test the market to ensure the Company is getting competitive pricing
· Explore alternative suppliers to ensure the Company is getting the best value for money
· All other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
· Two to three (2-3) years of experience in an industrial / manufacturing Company
· Ability to work with others to meet deadlines
· Experience with international purchasing considered an asset
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Attention to detail and ability to implement improvements
· Experience working with accounting/ERP software & Microsoft Office
Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
