Position Summary

The Project Coordinator supports the planning, execution, and completion of construction and renovation projects. This role assists in ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable building codes, regulations, and quality standards. The position works closely with internal departments and external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating construction and renovation projects to ensure alignment with approved schedules, budgets, quality standards, and project requirements.
  • Support projects from initial planning and permitting through construction and close-out under senior supervision.
  • Prepare and assist with building permit applications and regulatory documentation in accordance with municipal and provincial requirements.
  • Support the tendering process, including contractor prequalification, bid package preparation, and bid evaluation coordination.
  • Coordinate subcontractors (e.g., HVAC, landscaping, security, electrical, plumbing) to ensure work progresses according to schedule.
  • Assist with equipment sourcing and procurement, including liaising with domestic and international suppliers, and tracking deliveries.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Production, Engineering, Finance) and external stakeholders (consultants, contractors, landlords, authorities having jurisdiction).
  • Support contract administration, lease review, and space turnover/handover processes.
  • Track project expenses, quotations, change orders, and invoices to support cost control and budget monitoring.
  • Assist in monitoring construction quality, documenting deficiencies, participating in site reviews, and maintaining organized project records.
  • Provide support for due diligence, renovations, facility maintenance, environment and other related project tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Project Management, Construction Management, Real Estate Development, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction, project management, or facilities management.
  • Strong understanding of scheduling and budget control principles, with the ability to help maintain adherence across project teams.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications, with a foundational understanding of building systems, construction contracts, and applicable building codes (e.g., BC Building Code).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with consultants, general contractors, and trades, including effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-focused with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Korean or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) language skills are considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management software.

Additional Information

  • Knowledge of BC municipal permitting processes is considered an asset.
  • Professional designations such as PMP, CAPM, or Gold Seal Certification are considered an asset.
  • Candidates with less experience may be considered for a Junior Project Coordinator position.
