Job summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and bilingual Registered Nurse to join our team in a vibrant rural Ontario community. This bilingual permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive patient care across diverse settings, including primary care clinics, long-term care facilities, and acute care environments. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a passion for community health, and the ability to communicate effectively in both English and French. Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth.
  • Administer medications and injections, including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments, following aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
  • Provide wound care, suturing, ostomy care, and manage complex medical conditions such as diabetes, cardiac issues, and infectious diseases.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement personalized care plans for patients across various settings like assisted living, hospice & palliative care, memory care, and geriatrics.
  • Assist with diagnostic procedures, including CT scans, sonography, laboratory specimen collection/processing, and participate in emergency response activities such as triage and acute pain management.
  • Educate patients and their families on health coaching topics such as medication management, nutrition, discharge planning, and chronic disease management.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate medical documentation to support quality assurance standards like NCQA.

Required skills:

  • Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral health needs.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding is preferred.
  • Strong clinical skills, including ICU experience, trauma medicine (Level I & II Trauma Center), emergency medicine, or hospital medicine.
  • Ability to perform complex procedures, including catheterization (cardiac or urinary), tube feeding management, phlebotomy, venipuncture, sterile processing techniques, and ventilator management.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care delivery.
  • Excellent patient assessment skills combined with physiology knowledge to evaluate acute conditions effectively.
  • Experience in long-term care environments such as nursing homes or memory/dementia care units is highly valued.
  • Capable of working independently in rural settings while coordinating with healthcare teams across multiple disciplines like occupational health or home & community care.
  • Strong communication skills in both English and French are required to serve diverse patient populations effectively.

Compensation & benefits:

  • Salary: $65,000 to $80,000 annually, based on experience.
  • Bonus: Up to $45,000, which includes a $25,000 bonus and an additional $20,000 for meeting the Community Engagement Program for Nurses (PECI) criteria (if eligible based on client assessment).
  • Position type: Full-time permanent.
  • Work hours: Stable schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with the possibility of flexible hours.

Key additional responsibilities:

  • Conduct physical assessments, document clients’ medical histories, and provide medical follow-up in the clinic or at home.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date client records to ensure continuity of care.
  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive client care.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of protocols, medical directives, and policies.
  • Advise clients and families on health and lifestyle matters.
