Full job description

Essex Weld Solutions Ltd is actively seeking an experienced and detail-oriented IT Manager to work in our Essex, Ontario location to oversee and optimize our IT infrastructure, network systems and technology services. Reporting to the Senior Management team, the successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of all IT operations. The IT Manager will lead a team of IT professionals and contribute strategically to align technology initiatives with the organization’s overall objectives.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

  • Lead and manage the IT department, including systems administration, network management, helpdesk support, and IT infrastructure.
  • Oversee daily IT operations to ensure minimal downtime and maximum system efficiency.
  • Manage and support the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of hardware and software solutions.
  • Develop and implement IT policies, protocols, and security measures to ensure data protection, network security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand their technology needs and provide solutions that enhance productivity and performance.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, service providers, and technology partners to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Lead disaster recovery and business continuity planning, including ensuring proper backups and system redundancies.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to make recommendations for improvements or upgrades.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance and provide reports on IT metrics and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and manage IT budgets, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and expenditures.
  • Provide cross-training to internal IT staff to prevent downtime and allow for a manageable schedule for the department.
  • Work closely with internal IS department to collaborate and complete tasks as needed.
  • Provide leadership and professional development opportunities for IT team members.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure adherence to internal and external compliance standards.

QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Design, or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of equivalent professional experience in IT Management or similar role
  • Strong command of English communication, both written and verbal
  • Professional certifications such as ITIL, CISSP, or CompTIA Network+ are an asset

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven experience managing IT teams and delivering strategic technology solutions in a technology-driven environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of computer systems, networking, security protocols, and IT infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with: UniFi Networks, VMware and Windows Server (2016 and newer); Veeam backup software and backup/disaster recovery planning; VOIP phone systems; Cloud technologies, server management, and database administrations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with IT budgeting, forecasting and cost management
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.

COMPENSATION: $75,000-$110,000/year
