Are you interested in being at the forefront of the offshore energy sector in Nova Scotia, Canada? We have an exciting opportunity for an Analyst, Geospatial and Information Management to join the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator (CNSOER) and be responsible for the management, analysis, visualization, and dissemination of geospatial information to support organizational programs, regulatory activities, and information management initiatives.
The CNSOER is in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and is the independent joint agency of the Governments of Canada and Nova Scotia responsible for the regulation of renewable energy and oil and gas exploration and development activities that take place in the Canada-Nova Scotia offshore area.
The responsibilities include:
- Perform geospatial analysis, spatial modelling, data interpretation, mapping, and visualization using Esri ArcGIS Pro and related Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies.
- Develop maps, dashboards, web applications, reports, and presentations that support regulatory and business needs.
- Integrate spatial and non-spatial datasets from internal and external sources and conduct quality assurance and quality control of geospatial data and products.
- Design, develop, administer, and maintain geospatial databases, metadata, and workflows.
- Ensure geospatial data integrity, security, consistency, accessibility, and long-term usability.
- Support data migration, transformation, integration, and data lifecycle activities.
- Produce statistical summaries, spatial reports, and analytical products and identify opportunities to improve data quality and business processes.
- Provide GIS expertise, technical support, training, guidance, and documentation to stakeholders.
- Support enterprise data governance, reporting, and information management initiatives through geospatial technologies and data management best practices.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geomatics, Information Management, Computer Science, supplemented by a Post-Graduate Diploma or Advanced Certificate in GIS or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three to five years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS Pro and related Esri technologies.
- Strong understanding of GIS concepts, spatial analysis, cartography, geospatial data modelling, and development of geospatial products.
- Strong understanding of geodatabase design, relational databases, SQL, database management practices, metadata, and data quality assurance.
- Experience with ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Understanding of information governance, records management, metadata management, retention, and data lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of Python and JavaScript would be considered an asset.
