Full job description

About the role

Pangeo Group is building an aluminum die casting and machining plant in Vaughan, Ontario, our first die casting operation in North America. As an Industrial Electrician, you will keep our high-pressure die casting cells, robotic automation, furnaces and plant power distribution running safely and reliably. You will also help build the plant’s electrical maintenance function from the ground up.

Working closely with the Maintenance Manager and engineers from our sister facility, you will install, wire and commission new equipment and learn each machine’s control sequences so the plant can run independently once the launch team leaves. You will also set up LOTO procedures, preventive maintenance plans and critical spares, and serve as a key first responder when production is down.

Key responsibilities

Installation, commissioning and knowledge transfer

  • Work with installation technicians and engineers from Pangeo’s sister facility to install, wire, test nd commission new die casting cells and auxiliary equipment.
  • Learn each machine’s master control sequences and interlocks so the plant is self-sufficient once the launch team leaves.
  • Perform machine wiring, grounding/bonding, I/O loop checks, motor rotation checks and start-up testing; support hookups to the plant’s 600V/480V/208V distribution.
  • Audit, verify, and help translate/standardize electrical schematics, wire labels, and panel documentation against actual machine wiring to build accurate English "as-built" archives.
  • Support ESA inspections and Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSRs).
  • Help build the electrical maintenance program: LOTO placards, PM checklists, PLC/drive backups and critical spares lists.

Die casting equipment and automation

  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical and control systems on high-pressure die casting machines, robotic cells (extraction, ladle, die spray), trim presses and conveyors.
  • Diagnose faults in PLCs, HMIs, remote I/O, sensors, encoders, safety relays and cell networks.
  • Troubleshoot controls for hydraulic power units, valves, lubrication, cooling-water systems, die temperature units, and melting/holding furnaces.
  • Work collaboratively with mechanical maintenance personnel, controls engineers, production teams, and OEM service technicians.

Electrical maintenance and reliability

  • Perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on machinery and power distribution up to 600V, including motors, VFDs, servo drives and MCCs.
  • Read North American and IEC schematics, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams and PLC logic to find root causes quickly.
  • Assist with electrical troubleshooting of aluminum melting and holding furnaces, combustion-control interfaces, temperature instrumentation, and associated auxiliary systems
  • Carry out thermal imaging, motor current and insulation resistance checks.
  • Record commissioning baselines, faults, fixes and replacements in the CMMS.

Safety and compliance

  • Follow OHSA, the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, CSA Z462 arc-flash requirements and company procedures; apply LOTO and test-before-touch on every task.
  • Maintain safety circuits, light curtains, scanners, e-stops and guarding interlocks; never bypass safety devices.
  • Take part in risk assessments and Job Hazard Analyses.

Required qualifications

  • Ontario Certificate of Qualification – Industrial Electrician (442A), in good standing.
  • 3+ years of hands-on industrial electrical maintenance in automated manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of 3-phase power (600V/480V/208V), 24VDC controls, motors, VFDs, servo drives and instrumentation.
  • Able to troubleshoot from North American and IEC schematics; working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, sensors and robotic interlocks.
  • Proactive and eager to learn new equipment and build standards from scratch.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in high-pressure die casting, aluminum foundry, automotive, injection moulding or stamping.
  • Greenfield launch, OEM commissioning or ESA/PSR sign-off experience.
  • Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi or Omron controls; FANUC, ABB, KUKA or Yaskawa robots.
  • Furnace, burner management and temperature control experience.
  • Construction and Maintenance Electrician (309A) certificate.

Working conditions

  • Industrial die casting environment with heat, noise, molten metal, moving machinery and elevated work areas.
  • Project-based hours during installation, then shift work, overtime and weekend/shutdown coverage as production ramps up.

What we're looking for

  • Safety first. You never trade safety for output, and your team knows it.
  • Hands-on. You are on the floor, you know the equipment, and you go and see when something is wrong.
  • Ownership. You own your shift's results – safety, quality, output and people.
  • Leadership. You communicate clearly, coach fairly, handle conflict with respect, and adapt your style to each team member.
  • Builder mindset. You are comfortable with change and want to help set up a new plant.

What we offer

  • Extended health, dental and vision care
  • Life insurance
  • Group RRSP with company match
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement for job-related education and professional designations
  • Shift premiums
  • Safety shoe and prescription safety glasses reimbursement
  • Company events
  • Career growth opportunities
