Electrical Designer - Industrial/Automation – Full Time

Position Overview: The successful candidate will be responsible for multiple aspects of the integrated design process including but not limited to electrical design for industrial controls, network topography design, specification research, electrical enclosure layout, and documentation procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working with sales to determine a viable industrial controls solution for customers
  • Working with customers and project managers to assess the needs of the project(s) and ensure the customers’ needs are met
  • Coordinating with sales, electrical, and programming for designing control systems
  • Coordinating with electricians, machine builders, and the programming team to implement the controls solution
  • Specifying parts
  • Designing electrical cabinet assemblies in accordance with electrical standards and environmental considerations (temperature, washdown, and hazardous locations)
  • Reviewing all designs prior to assembly
  • Interpreting and implementing standards and codes from industry authorities and customers
  • Creating electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Interpreting customer and vendor schematics and documentation

REQUIRED TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

The selected candidate should demonstrate applied knowledge with several (but not all) of the listed software items:

  • Solidworks Electrical and AutoCAD Electrical
  • The applicant should also possess a strong working knowledge of machine controls-level electrical theory

  • Ability to work independently or in a team setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Self-disciplined and accountable
  • The team member will possess a willingness to listen, learn, and ask questions to enhance their applied knowledge within the automation industry
