DS TEC Consulting Services provides manpower and staffing solutions across industries including food, automotive, and retail. We're currently hiring on behalf of a client in Waterloo for an experienced Indian Chef to join their kitchen team.

Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Indian Chef with 2–5 years of experience to prepare authentic Indian cuisine, manage kitchen operations, and maintain high standards of food quality and hygiene. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of North and/or South Indian dishes, tandoor cooking, and spice balancing, and can work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of authentic Indian dishes (curries, tandoori items, breads, appetizers, etc.) to a consistently high standard
  • Plan and organize daily kitchen prep and cooking schedules
  • Manage inventory, portion control, and minimize food waste
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP/local health codes)
  • Train and supervise junior kitchen staff as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and storage areas
  • Collaborate with management on menu planning and seasonal specials

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience as an Indian Chef or in a similar culinary role
  • Strong knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, spices, and regional cuisines
  • Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively
  • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work evenings/weekends as required
