Overview

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation by chopping, peeling, measuring ingredients, and assembling dishes according to recipes and standards
  • Support cooking processes by following instructions from chefs or kitchen supervisors to ensure timely meal production
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, including washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Handle food safely by adhering to proper food handling procedures and hygiene standards at all times
  • Serve meals efficiently to customers or assist with plating and presentation to enhance dining experience
  • Support inventory management by restocking supplies and notifying supervisors of low stock levels
  • Follow all safety protocols related to food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations to ensure a safe working environment

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in food service or restaurant environments is preferred especially south indian cuisine; willingness to learn is key!
  • Basic knowledge of food handling, meal preparation, and cooking techniques
  • Familiarity with south indian dishes like dosa, appam, idli, Biriyanis etc.
  • Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices in the food industry
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude and eagerness to contribute to a lively kitchen atmosphere
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks such as chopping or washing dishes
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
