Job Summary

Canlan Sports is looking for an experienced and passionate Program Director to lead the CHAMPS International Skating Centre of BC (CHAMPS) at Scotia Barn.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader to shape one of British Columbia's premier figure skating programs. You'll play a key role in growing participation, supporting athlete development from Learn-to-Skate through high-performance pathways, and creating an exceptional experience for skaters, families, and coaches.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction, growth, and day-to-day operation of the CHAMPS International Skating Centre of BC program.
  • Develop and oversee recreational, developmental, and competitive skating programs that align with Skate Canada standards.
  • Drive membership growth, participant retention, and athlete progression through clearly defined skating pathways.
  • Collaborate with coaches, skating consultants, and facility leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with athletes, parents, coaches, and community partners through effective communication and engagement.
  • Monitor program performance, participation trends, and operational metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support program scheduling, ice utilization, and operational planning to maximize participant experience and program efficiency.
  • Promote Safe Sport principles, governance standards, and a positive, inclusive skating environment.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Progressive leadership experience in sport, recreation, or membership-based programming, preferably within figure skating.
  • Experience leading or coordinating coaches, instructors, or program staff.
  • Strong understanding of Skate Canada programming, athlete development pathways, and Long-Term Development principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow participation, manage stakeholder relationships, and deliver high-quality programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using data and performance metrics to evaluate and improve program outcomes.
  • Post-secondary education in Sport Management, Recreation, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Must be eligible to operate as an independent contractor and maintain any required business registrations, insurance, and applicable tax registrations.

If you're an experienced leader with a passion for skating, athlete development, and community building, we'd love to hear from you.
