Solar Sales Representative

Firefly Solar is hiring motivated individuals to join our residential sales team. This is a face-to-face, door-to-door role where you’ll be speaking directly with homeowners and booking qualified appointments for our senior Solar Educators.

We provide structured onboarding, one-on-one field training with experienced managers, scripts, daily coaching, and access to a full training platform so you’re never “thrown to the wolves.” You’ll know exactly what to say and how to improve.

Everyone starts as a Setter. That means your job is simple: knock doors, start conversations, identify interested homeowners, collect the required site information, and schedule a consultation. You are not responsible for closing the sale, that comes later.

But being a Setter is just the beginning.

We promote based on performance, not tenure. If you hit your metrics, you move up. The clear path is:

Setter → Closer → Office Closer → Team Lead → Assistant Manager → Manager.

We’re looking for coachable, competitive people who want to grow in a sales environment and earn advancement through performance.

This is a commission-based, independent contractor role best suited for individuals who are comfortable working outdoors, staying active, and being paid based on results rather than hourly wages.

Typical Earnings (Based on Historical Averages)

Actual earnings vary by performance and consistency.

  • Conservative performer: ~$70,000 per year
  • Average performer: ~$95,000–$100,000 per year
  • High performer: $115,000+ per year
  • Compensation (Commission-Only)
  • This position has no base salary. Earnings are paid per funded solar installation resulting from appointments you set.
  • Commission Rate: $0.20 per watt
  • Average System Size: ~7 kW (7,000 watts)
  • Average Commission Per Funded Deal: ~$1,400
  • Minimum Commission Per Deal: $400
  • Maximum Commission Per Deal: $2,400 (cap)
  • Commission is capped at $2,400 per deal.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Attend a daily team meeting for training, updates, and territory assignments
  • (Monday–Friday at 12:00 PM)
  • Conduct door-to-door outreach in assigned residential neighborhoods
  • (typically 2:00 PM–8:00 PM)
  • Speak directly with homeowners about solar energy solutions
  • Qualify homeowners based on set criteria
  • Schedule in-home solar consultation appointments using the CRM
  • Collect required site photos (roof, electrical panel, electrical meter, etc.)
  • Accurately upload customer and site information for proposal creation
  • Use company-provided tools for GPS-verified activity tracking

Training & Advancement

  • No prior solar or sales experience required
  • Clear advancement path to Solar Educator (Closer) with higher commission potential
