Job Overview

The Seḱúseńtemc (Star Person) team leads an innovative partnership with Community Living British Columbia (CLBC) to enhance services for Indigenous individuals with diverse abilities. The Seḱúseńtemc Inclusion Worker supports Indigenous young adults, their families, and communities to achieve individualized cultural, personal, and social goals. Grounded in the belief that all Indigenous children, youth, and adults deserve inclusion, cultural identity, and equitable access to opportunities, this role empowers individuals to build independence, exercise self-determination, and live the life they envision while ensuring their health, safety, and well-being through collaborative, culturally responsive support. This role also provides homeshare support, monitoring service quality, addressing concerns and supporting positive placements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

• Human Service Worker Diploma, Community Support Worker diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of experience in community social service/healthcare
• Experience and knowledge of local First Nations communities and their needs
• Trauma-informed practice and experience working with diverse-abilities.
• Current Emergency First Aid/CPR and Foodsafe or willing to obtain
• A combination of education, experience, and lived experience will be considered

• Culturally competent in the knowledge of Secwepemc territory, people, and their cultural traditions while respecting all cultural diversity
• Ability to build respectful, trusting relationships with Indigenous individuals, families, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Communities, and service providers
• Bring new ideas to move the organization forward
• Demonstrates a high degree of respect for each individual's unique strengths, personality, and support needs while upholding their dignity, rights, and self-determination
• Good oral and written, interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to facilitate, develop, and deliver workshops and programming
• Ability to deal with interpersonal conflict

Working Conditions:

• Travel required within our service delivery area
• Hours of work are occasionally nonstandard and connected to services and community needs
• Receives regular supervision with direction and review of program requirements

Conditions of Employment:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Record Check
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work

Pay Grade:

• Wage starting at $35.2399 per hour
