Scope
We are seeking a highly motivated and adaptable Job Developer to join our dynamic team. The job developer role operates in a high-volume, high-demand environment, requiring exceptional organizational skills, the ability to prioritize effectively, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
The Job Developer is responsible for the Start and Success stages of the Integrated Employment Services (IES) program including job development, securing employment placements with and without wage subsidy, organizing hiring events and job fairs, recruiting employers, conducting regular follow-up and supporting clients at their new jobs, furthering their career development or responding to a crisis. This includes vigorous employer outreach, soliciting employer interest, establishing and maintaining relationships with employers and community organizations.
In-person services must be delivered at our Bloor St West office location. Hours are 9:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, excluding statutory holidays.
Responsibilities
- Manage large volume of tasks while maintaining high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Thrive under tight deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Collaborate with team members to meet demanding expectations and achieve targets.
- Cultivate relationships with local employers, support their hiring practices and facilitate connections between employers and client candidates.
- Identify and secure high-quality, sustainable employment opportunities that align with client needs.
- Ensure that diverse client groups have access to equitable employment opportunities.
- Identify key sectors in high demand within the local economy and deliver targeted outreach strategies to introduce services to employers.
- Customize employer recruitment solutions by helping employers fill immediate vacancies and build talent pipelines for future hiring needs.
- Initiate and maintain personal contacts with business and industry representatives to set up recruitment profiles.
- Create relationships with employers in various high growth industries and coordinate placement of qualified candidates.
- Maintain diverse employer portfolio in various sectors.
- Schedule visits with potential employers to identify and develop positions for newcomers.
- Support employers in the hiring process by ensuring job seekers are well prepared for the specific demands of the roles they are applying for.
- Carefully match skills, interests and goals of job seekers with employer requirements ensuring a better fit that benefits both parties.
- Organize industry-specific job fairs and hiring events to allow job seekers and employers to connect directly.
- Establish a continuous feedback loop with employers who have hired participants to gather insights on candidate performance and areas for improvement.
- Meet established prospecting and placement targets.
- Initiates and participates within employer work groups, round tables, chambers of commerce, business corridors and other initiatives in appropriate targeted sectors.
- Effectively track and provide accurate reporting for manager.
- Maintain all employer files, employment services documentation, including daily/weekly tracking of job-readiness services and progress towards targets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, sales, psychology or related field and at least three (3) years experience working in job development or a combination of experience and education that fulfills the requirements.
- Strong knowledge of local economic and labor market conditions and trends.
- Effective techniques for contacting potential employers.
- Strong organizational skills to manage large caseload, data and reporting.
- Knowledge of immigration and refugee services and of the ethno-specific programs and services within GTA.
- Experience in marketing of program and services.
- Familiarity with issues facing newcomers in Canadian urban setting and systemic barriers facing integration in education, social, cultural, and economic aspects of Canadian life.
- Excellent interpersonal, cross cultural, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules on as needed basis.
- A second language is an asset.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license.
Other requirements
A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check (completed when offer is made).
