Description & Requirements
Graphic Designer - Apex Legends
We are seeking a Graphic Designer to join the Apex Legends team. In this role, you will help create compelling graphic and illustrative content that supports the visual identity of Apex Legends across in-game cosmetics, UI elements, and player-facing experiences. You will apply strong design fundamentals, illustration skills, and visual storytelling sensibilities to create bold, iconic assets that enhance the overall player experience.
You will work closely with the Graphic Design Lead, Art Directors, and your immediate team to develop high-quality graphic assets while collaborating with external partners to maintain Apex Legends’ visual quality and style standards. The ideal candidate is a strong visual communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about creating polished, player-facing content within a live service game.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate closely with the Graphic Design Lead and immediate team to create compelling graphic and illustrative assets for Apex Legends.
- Design and iterate on a wide range of in-game graphic elements, including banners, holosprays, badges, decals, icons, UI graphics, and other player-facing content.
- Help create content that supports seasonal releases, events, and evolving player-facing experiences within Apex Legends.
- Produce high-quality illustrations, thumbnails, sketches, and polished production-ready assets that align with Apex Legends’ visual language and artistic standards.
- Apply strong understanding of composition, typography, color theory, materials, shape language, lighting, and visual hierarchy in all design work.
- Finalize, polish, and refine externally created content as needed to ensure visual quality standards are consistently met or exceeded.
- Review outsourced work and provide clear, actionable visual feedback to external partners to maintain artistic consistency and production quality.
- Assist with the creation of production briefs, style guides, documentation, and external development workflows to support scalable asset production.
- Collaborate with production and external development teams to help address vendor feedback, scheduling needs, scope changes, and quality concerns.
- Participate actively in critiques and feedback sessions, iterating quickly to improve quality and alignment with project goals.
- Work within gameplay, technical, UI, and production constraints to ensure designs are achievable and implementation-ready.
- Stay informed on emerging tools, workflows, and production methodologies, helping improve efficiency and creative iteration across the team.
- Contribute to team growth by sharing knowledge, workflows, and best practices with peers.
Ideally, You Will Have
- 3+ years of experience as a Graphic Designer, Illustrator, or related visual design role within games, entertainment, or a related industry.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional graphic design, illustration, and visual communication skills.
- Strong understanding of design fundamentals, including composition, typography, color, lighting, perspective, scale, and visual hierarchy.
- Proven ability to create polished, production-ready assets that clearly communicate design intent and support gameplay readability.
- Exceptional illustration and graphic design skills across a wide variety of asset types, including icons, UI graphics, promotional assets, and in-game cosmetic content.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to provide clear and constructive feedback across multidisciplinary and external teams.
- Experience working with external development partners or outsourced art teams is a plus.
- Ability to adapt quickly to feedback and iterate effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with industry-standard graphic design and illustration tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma.
- Openness to learning and adopting new tools, workflows, and emerging technologies that improve efficiency and creative development.
