Full job description

Oxford College Mississauga Campus is seeking instructors to teach clinical courses for the Dental Hygiene Program. Adult teaching experience/and or possession of an Instructor’s certificate is required. Minimum 5 years of working experience required.

The Dental Hygiene Clinical Instructor supervises, guides, and instructs dental hygiene students in the provision of client care within the dental hygiene clinic, preparing students for safe and competent entry into the profession.

Instruction emphasizes the dental hygiene process of care, including comprehensive assessment, dental hygiene diagnosis, care planning, non-surgical periodontal therapy, evaluation of outcomes, and accurate documentation. A holistic, client centered approach to client management is foundational to clinical instruction.

As a Registered Dental Hygienist, the Clinical Instructor is responsible and professionally accountable for the client care delivered by students under their supervision and for ensuring that all care meets the standards set by the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (CDHO).

The Clinical Instructor evaluates student performance across all clinical competencies within the scope of practice and contributes to the continuous development and quality improvement of the Dental Hygiene Program.

The position also involves participation in the development and review of teaching materials, student assessments, and other instructional activities. The instructor is expected to maintain familiarity with the dental hygiene curriculum, including course content, sequence, scope, and standards of practice. This includes reviewing course outlines and syllabi, attending faculty calibration meetings, engaging in professional development, and participating in teaching methodology training related to clinical instruction. The instructor is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of all Dental Hygiene policies as outlined in the Student Handbook and Dental Hygiene Clinic Manual.
