Full job description

  • Education: Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry
  • Experience: 5 years or more
  • Tasks

  • Diagnose diseases or abnormal conditions in individual animals, herds and flocks through physical examinations or laboratory tests
  • Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds or performing surgery
  • Advise clients on feeding, housing, behaviour, breeding, hygiene and general care of animals
  • Provide a range of veterinary services including obstetrics, dentistry and euthanasia
  • Operate electrocardiographs, cardiac ultrasound and other electronic equipment
  • Operate computerized tomography (CT) scanners
  • Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses

  • Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities
  • Specialization in clinical medicine

  • Diagnostic radiology
  • Screening questions
