About the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences at Humber:
About the Hearing Instrument Clinical Specialist Role:
The incumbent in this position supports the faculty and students in the Hearing Instrument Specialist Program in the laboratory and clinical environment. Responsibilities include:
- Reinforcing practice skills, providing feedback based on pre-determined criteria/learning outcomes and providing technical expertise for students in the Hearing Instrument Specialist Clinical setting to become proficient in the performance of skills as established by Faculty.
- Supporting learners by applying previously taught theoretical content to practical application and support skills mastery through demonstration and feedback.
- Preparing the lab and clinic environment by setting-up materials and staying abreast of current and new resources for Faculty recommendation in lab courses.
- Liaising with community partners for off-campus Hearing Instrument Specialist fieldwork experiences to ensure that the community partners are supported in providing learners with off-campus clinical placements.

Education
- Two-Year Diploma or equivalent in a Hearing Health Related Field. Hearing Instrument Specialist is preferred.
- CPR & First Aid are required.
Experience and Skills
Minimum of 2 years practical working experience in the hearing health industry. This experience is required to provide the support required in the Hearing Instrument Specialist Clinic.
- Able to explain standard operating procedures to students, faculty, staff, and work study students.
- Demonstrates excellent clinical practices in the areas of hearing health.
- Registered member of the Association of Hearing Instrument Professionals of Ontario (AHIP).
