Reports directly to: General Manager

Job Purpose: The Human Resource Coordinator will lead and direct the recruitment, preliminary screening, interviewing, hiring, onboarding and training and development processes for prospective staff, managing internal controls and initiatives while maintaining and enhancing Kainai Forage’s culture and sustainable for-profit business mandate. . The Human Resource Coordinator will be a key resource for and work closely with the Kainai Forage General Manager, Farm Manager, Production Manager and Logistics Manager. This role will be an integral part of ensuring a best-in-class organization through the planning and implementation of strategies that will foster positive employee relationships while understanding and measuring bottom-line impacts of HR initiatives to the business. This person will model visible, positive leadership to all staff, as well as excel in communication and develop and ensure consistent implementation of processes that reflect and enhance the company’s HR policies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and executes the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies for required openings.
  • Ensures adequate staffing levels by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending changes.
  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent. Analyzes, understands, and communicates to the management team how suggested changes will affect the cost structure and positively enhance the profitability of Kainai Forage.
  • Works with departmental managers to create leaning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Updates job requirements and job descriptions for all positions.
  • Collaborates with department managers to assist with preparing employees for assignments by establishing and conducting onboarding, orientation and training programs.
  • Maintains a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions.
  • Recommends and plans pay structure revisions and communicates recommendations and the analysis and expected positive results on the Kainai Forage business and profitability.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees while supporting Kainai Forage management and mission.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining company and personnel records.
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures that complement the efficient and cost-effective operation of the business.
  • Maintains historical human resource records by designing a filing and retrieval system, keeping past and current records.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Proven managerial experience in a similar capacity, with strong people management skills.
  • Ability to facilitate complex problem solving through good organization, management skills, written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of and sufficient computer skill using Microsoft Office products (i.e., Excel, Office, and PowerPoint) Dropbox.
  • Fosters collaboration, communication, and teamwork. Demonstrates calm leadership and the ability to mentor and motivate individuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and the highest-level confidentiality.
  • Optimist, self-starter and eager to learn new things and continuously improve.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is an asset.
  • A minimum of three years of human resource administration experience is preferred.

Working conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Full-time; In-person; 40 hours per week with a minimum of 5 days attendance.
  • This role is onsite and located in a rural area, personal transportation is required to and from the plant.

Pay: From $27.00 per hour
