Human Resources Generalist - Payroll
1.0 FTE
Thunder Bay Site

One of a network of provincial community health centres, the NorWest Community Health Centres is a community based, non-profit organization funded by Ontario Health, emphasizing access to primary health care and prevention programs and services.

We are currently seeking 1FTE Human Resources Generalist - Payroll to join our HR and Finance Team. The HR Generalist – Payroll is responsible for the administration, coordination, and oversight of all payroll operations while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, organizational policies, collective agreements, and payroll best practices. The successful candidate will also oversee pension and benefits administration, maintain payroll records, support HR reporting and audits, and provide guidance to employees and managers on payroll-related matters. This role works collaboratively with internal departments to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of payroll and related HR services.

The position has a competitive salary, the Health Care of Ontario’s Pension Plan (HOOPP) and an excellent group health benefits package.

The salary range for this position is $67,312 to $81,495 per year.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in human resources, payroll administration, finance (or equivalent).
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation or commitment to pursuing designation.
  • Experience processing payroll, preferably in a unionized environment, a non-profit, charitable, broader public sector or health care setting considered an asset.
  • Experience working with an integrated HR/Payroll system (Ceridian Dayforce)
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Ontario payroll regulations and employment legislation.
  • Experience with collective agreement, benefit and pension administration.
  • Experience with year-end processing.
  • Understanding of accounting principles – general ledgers
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, including weekends and evenings as required.
