Full job description

CANES Community Care is a not-for-profit organization that assists clients with tasks in the home, providing emotional and social support, while helping seniors take part in the life of their community. We provide services in Etobicoke, Brampton, Malton, Woodbridge, Mississauga and Halton areas in the Ontario Health Central Region.

CANES Community Care is looking for Part Time - Personal Support Workers to support our clients within the community across the GTA.

The PSW position reports to the Supervisor, Client Services and are subject to Collective Agreement CUPE Local 3808. The minimum pay rate for this positions are $19.29 per hour. YOU MUST HAVE ACCESS TO A VEHICLE. This position is a driving positon, candidates must have G License and have their own vehicle.

Responsibilities

· Optimize client safety and quality of care by providing personal, palliative, housekeeping, and respite services to seniors in their own homes or apartments

· Perform personal care services including, but not limited to, personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, medication reminders, transfers, repositions, and/or escorts to medical appointments

· Perform homemaking duties including, but not limited to, meal preparation, cleaning, and/or laundry

· Respond to Emergency Response System (i.e. Lifeline and mobile phone) calls

· Contributes to a culture of client safety and employee health and safety by complying with all safety practices of the Organization, reporting unsafe practices and adverse events, and acting on safety recommendations

· Ensures compliance with all organizational policies, including but not limited to workplace conduct, health and safety, privacy, and workplace violence and harassment policies

· Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

· Personal Support Worker certification

· Valid class G drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle

· Minimum 6 months of experience working with seniors

· Strong English communication skills (both oral and written)

· Ability to communicate in a second language considered an asset

· Physically and emotionally able to perform all duties and responsibilities

· Valid first aid/CPR certification

· Enjoy working with seniors and able to contribute to their quality of life by promoting their independence, dignity, social, emotional and physical well-being

· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
