Host Job Description

At The Stella Collective, the Host role refers to an employee who is directly responsible for a guest's experience - from the time they arrive until they leave- through their actions on the job. A host, literally, is "hosting" our guests on our behalf in our space and is there to ensure their experience with us is positive and enjoyable from start to finish. Our hosts treat each guest like a VIP by frequently checking in on quality of service when the opportunity presents itself, offering beverages, encouraging movement and flow, as well as polite conversations throughout an event, representing the brand and team in a positive manner.

Our hosts, among many duties, are responsible for food services with the Gilt Catering team through cocktail hour, dinner, and reception including but not limited to;
- Passing canapés
- Welcome station upkeep and approachability
- Dinner service and brunch service
- Clearing of used plates, cutlery, and glassware from the event space
- Late-night station assistance
- Coffee and tea services and its station upkeep
- Understanding of floor plans, seating charts, and table numbersIn addition to food services, our hosts are responsible for guest experience through venue upkeep and cleanliness, including but not limited to;
- Setting up and tearing down ceremony chairs
- Moving tables to suit any given floor plan
- Bridal Suite upkeep
- Hanging coats and greeting guests on arrival
- Setting or resetting of tables
- Polishing glassware and cutlery to a usable state

• Washroom checks and stocks
• Folding linens and napkins for service
• The use of FIFO when handling inventory and restocking
• Following checklists diligently, efficiently and efficiently to ensure Standard checkpoints are made through and event and before your shift is completed

This role is for a vibrant person who enjoys speaking with people, working in fast paced environments with diligent problem solving and organizational skills. Our hosts are eager to learn and are easily adaptable to change in work environments to encourage positive guest experience.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $17.60 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

• St. Jacobs, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
