Motel Manager

Location: Prince Rupert, British Columbia

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly organized and responsible individual to join our team as manager at our guesthouse. The manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the guesthouse, including managing staff, handling guest inquiries and requests, and ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the property.

In addition, depending on individual skills and physical ability the manager will be responsible for minor maintenance tasks, and minor repairs as needed. Being able to do such tasks as snow removal, pressure washing, and assist with minor renovations are not required but definitely appreciated in a manager.

Its crucial that a potential manager be able to work 3 to 4 days (72 to 96 hour shifts) at a time. This is not just a front desk position, The job is for a live in manager, which means you will have the phone 72-96 hours as a shift, then you will have the same time off. Since this is a live-in position, and the manager will receive free studio apartment, that comes with a kitchenette, bathroom, tv and everything else.

The work schedule will be determined based on the needs of the guesthouse and employees’ individual schedules/ availability. If a person needs certain days off we can usually accommodate them. We do take care of our employees and do take into consideration individual needs but we cant have the entire schedule revolve around one persons availability due to other obligations such as school, family, other jobs or immigration status.

It’s a manager position with many responsibilities. We are seeking an intelligent, highly motivated ambitious person who can work independently, multi task as well as prioritize tasks on their level of importance. They must take initiative, work independently while managing multiple tasks effectively, at times be able to work long hours in an environment that can be somewhat stressful.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the hospitality industry, but that is not a requirement. Its important that the manager have good communication and customer service skills. They must also be able to work well in a team and have the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the guesthouse, including managing staff, handling guest inquiries and requests, and ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the property.
  • We do have house keeping staff however the front desk manager is responsible for cleaning common areas in the slow season and occasionally has to help house keeping with room cleaning.
  • Perform minor maintenance task such as changing light bulbs, programing locks, and minor repairs as needed
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, including reservations, guest information, and financial reports
  • Plan and implement strategies to increase guest satisfaction and revenue
  • Assist with the planning and execution of events and special functions
  • Handle any issues or concerns that may arise in a timely and professional manner

Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma in Hospitality, Business Management or related field (preferred)
  • 1+ years of experience in the hospitality industry (preferred)
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Must be willing and able to clean
  • Ability to work well in a team and multitask effectively
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance tasks
  • Ability to live on-site at the guesthouse
