Position Overview:

The Assistant Accounting Manager, Client Accounting works directly alongside the Accounting Manager to oversee and support all day-to-day client accounting functions. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with extensive full-cycle accounting experience within the residential property management sector. This role requires a professional with deep Yardi Voyager expertise, excellent communication skills, advanced Excel capabilities, and strong leadership potential to help guide a dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

-Operational Support: Assist in managing the daily operations of the client accounting department to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

-Compliance & Standards: Enforce proper accounting methods, internal controls, policies, and principles.

-Team Supervision: Assist with hiring, training, and supervising accounting staff, including tracking and maintaining team performance metrics.

-Process Improvement: Continuously identify, recommend, and implement efficiencies in accounting processes and procedures.

-Transactional Oversight: Assist with day-to-day accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, including resolving complex issues, managing weekly cheque runs, and monitoring cash flow.

-Full-Cycle Property Accounting: Support property-specific accounting workflows, including issuing accounting calendars, preparing year-end accrual data, facilitating audits, and reviewing/approving bank reconciliations.

-Budgeting: Prepare comprehensive budget files for properties and manage the seamless upload of budget data into the accounting system.

-Reporting & Analytics: Maintain and report on internal and external financial metrics. Create and prepare ad-hoc reports and requests to support team members across the organization.

-Other Duties: Perform additional accounting duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • Property Accounting: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in property accounting, specifically within the residential property management sector.
  • Yardi Expertise: Advanced, hands-on experience with Yardi Voyager for full-cycle accounting (including AP, AR, budget uploads, and financial statement preparation).
  • MS Office Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, financial modeling).

  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and consistently meet strict deadlines.
