About Us

At The Happening Dance, we believe dance is about more than movement—it's about building confidence, creativity, community, and belonging. We're looking for an organized, friendly, and proactive Studio & Event Coordinator to help support the day-to-day operations of our dance studio while creating a positive experience for our dancers, families, and staff.

If you enjoy working with people, staying organized, and being part of a creative and community-focused environment, we'd love to hear from you!

Position Overview

The Studio & Event Coordinator supports the daily operations of the studio, helping to keep programs, communications, and administrative systems running smoothly while ensuring our studio remains welcoming, organized, and community-focused. This role also assists with performances, camps, workshops, marketing initiatives, and community events. The successful candidate will be a warm and professional presence in the studio and will be comfortable balancing customer service, administration, event support, and hands-on studio needs.

This is a part-time position requiring 15 hours in-person Fridays from 2 - 9:30pm and Saturdays from 8am - 3:30pm, with the potential for picking up additional hours either remote or in-person depending on operational needs and scheduling.

We are looking for someone with the flexibility to work additional hours during Spring Break, Summer, and other peak seasons to support camps, workshops, performances, and special events.

What You'll Do

Studio & Administrative Support

  • Support the daily operations of the studio and assist with front desk coverage.
  • Welcome dancers and families and provide excellent customer service.
  • Assist with registrations, administrative tasks, and client communication.
  • Help maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming studio environment.
  • Support instructors and staff with day-to-day operational needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality when working with client, employee, or business information.

Programs & Community

  • Support event planning, scheduling, communications, supplies, setup, registration, and on-site coordination with studio programs, camps, workshops, and seasonal offerings.
  • Assist with productions, performances, rehearsals, and special events in studio and off-site.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, engaging experience for dancers and families.

Marketing & Communications

  • Assist with client communications.
  • Help prepare newsletters, program updates, reminders, and promotional materials.
  • Capture photo and video content during classes, programs, and events.
  • Support basic marketing initiatives such as studio promotion, events, and community activities.
  • Support social media content creation and promotional materials through design platforms such as Canva.

We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Is organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.
  • Has excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Can be a warm, welcoming presence in a busy studio environment.
  • Is comfortable adapting to changing needs and prioritizing tasks efficiently.
  • Takes initiative and follows through on tasks with care.
  • Is proficient using administrative systems (such as Google Workspace) and learning new technology.
  • Is comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
  • Has an interest in community-building and connecting with children and families.
  • Is available to work Fridays from 2 - 9:30pm and Saturdays from 8am - 3:30pm.
  • Has the flexibility to work additional hours during Spring Break, Summer, and other peak periods to support camps, productions, and studio events.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in administration, customer service, studio coordination, or event planning.
  • Previous experience working with children, youth, and families.
  • A background or interest in dance, music, recreation, or other arts-based programs is an asset.
  • Experience using registration software such as Jackrabbit is an asset.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic marketing/content creation such as Instagram, Canva, and Squarespace.

Requirements

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check as a condition of employment.
  • Must be available for occasional adjusted hours related to productions and special events.
