Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Veterinary Receptionist/Assistant to join our animal care team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for clients and their pets, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support in a veterinary clinic setting.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with patient care and treatment
• Excellent customer service skills; a real aptitude for putting pets and pet parents at ease and creating a welcoming environment
• Monitor hospitalized pets / Monitor/aid in caring for animals after surgery
• Restrain animals during exams, blood draws and nail trim
• Aiding with routine diagnostic tests (i.e. Taking radiographs)
• Maintain & sterilize surgical instruments/equipment
• General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas, and common areas
• Ability to answer a multiline phone system and track and book appointments effectively
• Placing outbound calls to pet parents for follow-up and future appointment bookings
• Administering medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision
• Respond to and manage email correspondence; clients, referring veterinarians & internal office messages
• Scheduling appointments
• Admitting and discharging pet patients
• Taking payments and end of day closing.

Requirements:

• Must be 18yrs old or older
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all levels of hospital team members.
• Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care environment is preferred
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. Work requires lifting, carrying and restraining animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs.). Should be able to lift 40lbs on own.
• Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent or squatting position.
• Excellent communication skills with a compassionate approach towards animals and their owners
• Proficiency in basic computer skills for data entry and managing electronic records
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures or willingness to learn is a plus
