Here we GROW again! Groat Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is hiring!

Dr. Jeff Soparlo is looking for a part time Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) to join our team.

At Groat Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, our commitment extends beyond surgical excellence. We pride ourselves on compassionate, patient-centered, collaborative care and proudly operate in Edmonton as an accredited non-hospital surgical facility. We offer a broad scope of oral and maxillofacial treatments surgery procedures under general anesthesia, intravenous sedation and local anesthetics anesthesia. Our primary focus includes dental extractions, dental implants, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma management, oral pathology and bone grafting.

Job Overview
The MDRT role is key to ensuring that our patients experience excellent care through ensuring that our surgical team has safe and functional instruments, supporting efficient operating room workflow, and ensuring that regulatory standards are upheld.

This role is suited for a motivated individual capable of working independently and efficiently in a fast-paced team environment. The ideal candidate possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, can prioritize tasks effectively, and demonstrates interpersonal awareness, empathy, and a professional demeanor.

Please note that this is a part-time role, consisting of full days, three days per week on clinic surgical days.

Duties

  • Responsible for keeping accurate and timely records
  • Demonstrates excellent aseptic technique including decontamination, reassembly and sterilization of supplies, equipment and surgical instrumentation
  • Ensures that instruments and equipment are in proper working order including scheduling preventative and routine maintenance
  • Performance of biological, chemical and quality assurance testing in accordance with regulatory standards

Key Characteristics of a Successful Candidate

  • Successful completion of a Medical Device Reprocessing program (CSA or HSPA)
  • Minimum 3 years of hospital or surgical facility experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
  • Commitment to excellence and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector background check
  • Up-to-date Immunization records
  • Basic Life Support training (will provide if needed)

Previous experience in an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice is an asset but not required. We are willing to help our new team member gain the necessary experience and training to succeed in their role. Pay: $25.00-$29.00 per hour
