Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dietary Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist in the preparation and serving of nutritious meals to patients, ensuring dietary needs are met with professionalism and care. This role requires excellent organizational and communication skills, along with a strong understanding of patient care and dietary standards within a hospital or healthcare setting. The Dietary Aide will play a vital role in supporting patient well-being through proper meal service and maintaining a clean, safe environment in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation, portioning, and serving of meals to patients according to dietary guidelines and individual nutritional needs.
  • Ensure all food service areas are clean, sanitized, and organized in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and dietitians to accommodate special dietary restrictions or preferences.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to meal service, patient intake, and dietary modifications using appropriate software tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, or Outlook.
  • Support inventory management by stocking supplies and notifying supervisors of shortages or equipment issues.
  • Communicate effectively with patients to address their dietary concerns or preferences, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Follow infection control protocols and safety procedures at all times to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Experience

  • Prior experience in hospital or healthcare food service is preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, case management, and patient care practices is advantageous.
  • Multilingual abilities including French or other languages are considered a plus for effective communication with diverse patient populations.
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and analysis skills are essential for managing multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is beneficial for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Experience working in acute care settings or pediatrics is desirable but not mandatory; a genuine interest in nursing support roles is valued. This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to patient recovery while developing valuable skills within the healthcare industry.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
