This position has a term length of one year plus one day from the date of hire.
Location - This role is in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
The purpose of this position is to provide support to clinical research studies/projects in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. The position is diversified and complex, with some standard procedures and day-to-day research operations, procedures and protocols, as well as independent problem solving.
The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is one of the world’s top academic health science centres. With 21 departments, multiple research institutes and centres, and a focus on excellence in education, research, and clinical care, the faculty trains outstanding medical and dental professionals and drives global health innovation in collaboration with partners across sectors.- Participates in protocol management; reviews and adheres to multiple research protocols.
- Ethics submission to the Research Ethics Board (initial submission, amendments, renewals, applicable updates) and resolve any study issues addressed by ethics review.
- Assembles study specific source documents and prepares study binders to ensure regulatory documentation is maintained to meet study requirements.
- Established protocol management to ensure that reviews adhere to research protocols including overall project planning and management for multiple clinical research projects.
- Conducts screening and recruitment of potential study participants; including obtaining consent, performs study specific assessments pre- and post-operatively as required/appropriate.
- Conducts patient follow-up, data collection, case report form (CRF) completion, study monitoring, data query resolution; promotes patient's adherence to the study and monitors patient safety in relation to study protocols.
- Conducts daily aspects of trials according to defined study protocols.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science, Psychology or other Health Science.
- Previous experience with clinical trials is required.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written commination skills.
