Full job description

Are you a seasoned care professional looking for an agency that matches your standards? Parkwood Home Care is not your typical agency. We were recently nominated for Business of the Year at the 2026 Halifax Business Awards and are the winners of the Click360 Award for Best Senior Home Care Agency. We are seeking mature, career-caregivers, including retired LPNs, CCAs, or RNs, who want to work in an environment where expertise is celebrated and "the little things" matter.

The Parkwood Distinction

  • Award-Winning Excellence: Join a team recognized by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce for business excellence and community impact.
  • Dementia Experts: We are certified in Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care (PAC). We don't just assign shifts; we provide our team with specialized training to handle complex care with dignity and skill.
  • A Culture of CARE: We live by our core values of Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Empowerment.

The Role: A Clinical & Compassionate Link

As a Senior Caregiver, you are the critical professional link between the client’s home and our management team. You will:

  • Provide Dignified Personal Care: Perform ADLs (hygiene, mobility) with a focus on independence and self-respect ensuring clients never feel "infantilized".
  • Apply Specialized Skills: Use Teepa Snow techniques to support clients with dementia, ensuring a calm, positive, and safe environment.
  • Maintain Professional Presence: Prioritize the client entirely; we value caregivers who are fully present, punctual, and focused.
  • Report & Collaborate: Observe and communicate client changes directly to the office team, allowing us to partner with families to adjust care plans proactively.

Who You Are

  • Highly Experienced: You possess 5+ years of hands-on caregiving experience.
  • A Professional Steward: You take pride in your reliability and your ability to build trust through consistent, high-quality care.
  • Mobile & Ready: You have a Valid Class 5 Canadian Driver’s License and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Dignity-Focused: You believe that every senior has an inherent right to live with respect.

Benefits

  • Competitive Compensation: $18.00–$24.00/hr based on experience.
  • Advanced Training: Receive specialized certification training in Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care.
  • Supportive Leadership: Work for a locally owned agency where the founder's promise is to treat every client like family & direct access to management who values your feedback.

Work where your maturity is an asset, not an afterthought.
