Cantonese Caregiver – Dementia & Mobility Support

Location: North Edmonton, AB
Pay: $20.00/hour
Schedule: Nigotiable

About the Position

Prairie Comfort Homecare is looking for a reliable and compassionate Cantonese speaking caregiver to support a client in North Edmonton who is living with Alzheimer’s/dementia and has a high risk of falls.

The successful caregiver will provide hands-on support with personal care, mobility, safety, exercises, and daily routines while helping the client remain comfortable and as independent as possible at home.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and respectful support to a client living with dementia/Alzheimer’s.
  • Assist with personal care, including toileting, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
  • Provide mobility assistance and safe transfers.
  • Perform two-person transfers safely and according to the client’s care plan.
  • Assist with prescribed or approved mobility exercises and routines.
  • Provide close supervision due to the client’s high fall risk.
  • Assist with safe walking and positioning as required.
  • Provide companionship and reassurance.
  • Support the client with daily routines and activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment.
  • Observe and report changes in the client’s condition, mobility, behaviour, or safety to the care coordinator.
  • Complete required care notes accurately after each shift.
  • Follow the client’s care plan and Prairie Comfort Homecare policies.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with dementia/Alzheimer’s clients.
  • Experience with personal care and mobility assistance.
  • Experience with two-person transfers is required.
  • Strong understanding of fall prevention and safe mobility.
  • Compassionate, patient, dependable, and safety-focused.
  • Able to work independently while following the care plan.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Reliable transportation to North Edmonton is an asset.
  • Current First Aid/CPR and other relevant certifications are an asset.

Important

This client requires a caregiver who is comfortable with hands-on personal care, mobility assistance, dementia care, and two-person transfers. Because of the client’s high fall risk, safety, attentiveness, and reliability are extremely important.
