About the Role
We are looking for a kind, compassionate, and dependable live-in Companion/Home Support person to assist an independent 81-year-old gentleman in West Vancouver.
This is not a high medical-needs position. He is cognitively sharp, enjoys conversation, and is able to manage many aspects of daily life independently. His primary challenge is mobility due to severe osteoarthritis in his knees, so he benefits from someone who can provide support with day-to-day routines, encourage an active lifestyle, and offer companionship.
The ideal candidate enjoys building meaningful relationships with seniors and takes pride in helping someone maintain their independence while improving their quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks
- Assist with grocery shopping and meal planning
- Light housekeeping and laundry
- Medication reminders
- Encourage hydration and healthy daily routines
- Accompany to medical appointments and community outings
- Encourage walks, light exercise, and mobility
- Provide companionship, conversation, and social engagement
- Help monitor general wellbeing and communicate any concerns to family
- Assist with organizing the home and daily schedule
- Occasional assistance with errands
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Warm, patient, and compassionate
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Organized and proactive
- Comfortable working independently
- Experienced supporting seniors (professional or personal experience welcomed)
- A confident cook who enjoys preparing healthy meals
- Comfortable driving (valid driver's licence is a strong asset)
- Fluent in English
- Looking for a long-term position
Healthcare experience (Care Aide, HCA, PSW, nursing, etc.) is welcomed but not required if you have the right personality and experience.
What We Offer
- Private bedroom in a beautiful West Vancouver home
- Utilities and Wi-Fi included
- Competitive salary (based on experience)
- Stable, long-term employment
- Supportive and respectful family
- An opportunity to make a genuine difference in someone's life
About Him
He is an intelligent, kind, and appreciative gentleman who enjoys good conversation and values his independence. He is motivated to remain active and continue enjoying life, and we're looking for someone who can help make that possible through encouragement, companionship, and practical day-to-day support.
To Apply
Please send:
- A brief introduction about yourself
- Your caregiving or senior support experience
- Whether you have a driver's licence and vehicle
- Your availability
- References (if available)
We look forward to finding someone who will become an important and trusted part of our family.
