Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Safety: Recognize arrhythmias, signs of patient distress, or symptoms during testing and respond immediately according to established clinical protocols.
  • ECG Acquisition: Ensure high-quality 12-lead ECG acquisition, minimizing artifacts for accurate physician interpretation.
  • Patient Education: Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures clearly, alleviating anxiety, and ensuring comfort before, during, and after the test.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform equipment maintenance and calibration to ensure systems are ready for patient use.
  • Clinical Collaboration: Work closely with cardiologists to provide timely, accurate diagnostic reports based on the testing performed.

Qualifications

  • Certification: Graduate of a recognized Cardiovascular Technology program; CSCT (Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists) certification is required.
  • Clinical Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in performing exercise stress testing in a clinical environment.
  • Clinical Knowledge: Proficiency in 12-lead ECG placement and advanced rhythm recognition during physical exertion.
  • Safety Protocols: Valid CPR/BLS certification is mandatory.
  • Professionalism: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and the clinical team.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of privacy standards and healthcare ethics in Ontario.
