Full job description

Hollyburn Family Services, recognized as a Great Place to WorkCanada, embodies a commitment to serve, nurture, honor, and lead. Our therapeutic programs are designed to create safe, nurturing, and growth-oriented environments for children, youth, and adults with support needs. Join our team as a Child and Youth Care Worker (Senior Worker Position) at our Therapeutic Home in North Vancouver, where you are responsible for ensuring the health, well-being, and development of program residents, while providing some supervisory and administrative duties.


Hours:
40 hours per week, Sunday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field + 2 years of residential care worker experience OR college diploma in a related field + 3 years’ experience.
  • Clear, direct, and sensitive verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License
  • Current First Aid/CPR training (We will train those who require this)
  • Current MANDT Training (we will train those who require this)
  • Proof of a COVID-19 double vaccination record
  • Preference will be given to qualified applicants of Indigenous ancestry

Therapeutic Home Team Responsibilities:

  • Ensure primary youth's needs are met, including intake, progress reports, and communication with professionals.
  • Maintain home cleanliness and safety, oversee chores, and property upkeep.
  • Attend to the medical, dental, and court needs of youth.
  • Facilitate recreational and educational activities.
  • Assist youth with house routines, hygiene, and life skills.
  • Monitor behaviors and encourage social standards.
  • Attend team meetings, provide input into program development, rules, and policies.
  • Foster a positive and caring environment, and build relationships with youth.
  • Provide a safe space for communication and assist with future care plans.
  • Liaise with outside agencies, courts, and families.
  • Attend training and contribute to care approaches and decisions.
  • Manage daily petty cash.

Senior Worker Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a higher level of training and experience.
  • Assist Program Supervisor, demonstrate independence in decision-making.
  • Provide counselling, identify emotional, social, and behavioral issues.
  • Offer input for program development and provide leadership.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and provide on-call coverage.
  • Attend meetings and submit reports within deadlines.
