Karma Casting, in partnership with the National Hockey League, the National Hockey League Player’s Association, Bauer Hockey, and Hockey Canada, are looking for athletic, outgoing, and professional Team Leads to work an amazing program that is designed to help kids fall in love with hockey! As an ambassador for the NHL/NHLPA First Shift, you will have the opportunity to travel Canada, engaging families, and expertly fitting children with new BAUER hockey equipment to create memorable experiences for new-to-hockey families.

POSITION DETAILS
Role: Field Manager
Start Date: Week of September 21, 2026 (exact dates would be confirmed)
End Date: Up to mid-November 2026, with option to extend into the winter and spring seasons
Training Location: Toronto, ON
Pay Rate: $25/hour; all travel and accommodations covered, plus a daily per diem

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

As leaders in hockey, we have a mission to grow, advance and protect the game. We aim to change the way hockey is offered to inspire new families to join our community and introduce kids to our sport. The NHL/NHLPA First Shift is designed to facilitate entry by offering a program that is accessible, affordable, safe and, most importantly, fun! Each First Shift program includes a launch event, 6 weeks of on-ice sessions and a transition program. This role specifically focuses on the off-ice program launch events.

This season, we will execute up to 275 NHL/NHLPA First Shift programs in communities across Canada. These events are designed to build a sense of community and engagement, properly fit players with brand new Bauer hockey equipment, and educate parents while instilling confidence and enthusiasm in their decision to enrol their children.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage and oversee a team of 3 Fit Experts and 7+ volunteers at each event

- Oversee and participate in the execution of launch events in your region

- Ensure exceptional experiences for new-to-hockey families

o Oversee/supervise/assist with event setup and tear down

o Provide program introduction, overview and equipment demonstration for kids and parents

o Manage event flow & family movement through stations

o Manage/participate in media interviews as needed

o Maintain welcoming, energetic, pleasant and approachable demeanor

- Manage logistics

o Offer support for minor hockey association hosts leading up to and following launch events (provide info, answer questions, troubleshoot potential challenges)

o Inventory management, facilitate delivery and returns of equipment at each destination

o Coordinate delivery of replenishment orders

o Ensure post-event reports are completed and uploaded in a timely manner

o Assistance with timesheet and expense form submission as required

*Note – there is no on-ice component required in this role

- Event execution experience an asset

- Ability to act in a field management capacity

- Demonstrated experience and passion working with children and families

- Quick thinking in a fast paced, always-changing environment

- Willingness to travel with your team within Canada

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

- 21 years of age or older

- Commitment of availability for the full assigned regional tour: mid-September 2026 to mid-November 2026, including required training

- Desire to share your passion for youth sports! Experience and/or knowledge in hockey is an asset but is not required

- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs safely

- Willingness to travel within Canada

- Valid driver’s license (clear driver’s abstract report and clear criminal background check required)

- High school diploma

- English – French Bilingualism is an asset
