REL - The Safety Experts is a leading provider of occupational health and safety consulting, industrial hygiene, training, and fire safety services throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. Our team of experienced professionals includes industry-recognized designations such as CRSP and CIH, bringing extensive expertise in regulatory compliance, hazard management, and workplace safety excellence.
We are currently seeking a Safety Advisor / Industrial Hygiene Technician to join our growing team.
We have an immediate opening for the following position:
Key Responsibilities
Safety Consulting & Advisory Services
- Provide OH&S advisory services on client sites and projects.
- Assist clients in developing, implementing, and maintaining OHS programs and management systems.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and assessments to evaluate compliance with: OH&S legislation and regulations, WorkplaceNL Prime requirements, NLCSA COR requirements, and industry best practices.
- Prepare professional reports outlining findings, recommendations, and corrective actions.
Industrial Hygiene Services
- Support industrial hygiene assessments involving chemical, physical, and biological workplace hazards.
- Prepare, calibrate, and maintain sampling equipment and media before and after field assessments.
- Conduct workplace sampling and monitoring activities under the direction of the Industrial Hygienist.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports detailing sampling methodologies, results, observations, and recommendations.
Qualifications Required
- Diploma in Safety Engineering Technology, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong technical report-writing abilities.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check.
Assets
- Previous experience in industrial hygiene, occupational hygiene, or hazardous materials consulting.
- Experience conducting workplace audits, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Knowledge of WorkplaceNL Prime, NLCSA COR requirements and NL OH&S Acts and Regulations.
- Professional designations or progress toward certifications such as CRSP, NCSO, ROH, or related credentials.
