Position Summary

The Assistant Manager supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, leading team members, maintaining food quality standards, and ensuring efficient and profitable operations. The ideal candidate is a motivated leader who thrives in a high-volume environment and is passionate about creating an exceptional experience for both guests and employees.

Duties & Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Staffing

  • Support the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and training of team members
  • Assist in coaching, motivating, and developing employees to maintain strong performance and accountability
  • Help manage staff schedules to ensure proper coverage and labour efficiency
  • Lead by example while fostering a positive, energetic, and team-oriented workplace culture
  • Assist with ongoing employee training, performance feedback, and daily shift management
  • Act as Manager-on-Duty when required

Restaurant Operations

  • Support all daily restaurant operations in a fast-paced QSR environment
  • Assist with daily sales reporting, cash handling, and operational procedures
  • Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Communicate operational concerns, staffing issues, and inventory needs to the Restaurant Manager
  • Work in all restaurant positions when needed, including grill, prep, fryer, expo, cashier, and guest service duties
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness throughout each shift

Guest Experience

  • Maintain high standards of customer service and hospitality
  • Handle customer concerns professionally and efficiently to ensure positive resolutions
  • Ensure guests receive fast, friendly, and accurate service at all times
  • Create a welcoming, clean, and organized dining environment

Food Quality & Inventory Control

  • Maintain food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and presentation standards
  • Assist with inventory counts, food ordering, stock rotation, and waste control
  • Ensure proper food handling, preparation, and storage procedures are followed consistentlySupport labour and food cost targets while maintaining operational efficiency

Health & Safety

  • Ensure all health, safety, sanitation, and company procedures are followed at all times
  • Maintain compliance with local health regulations and food safety standards
  • Promote a safe and respectful work environment for employees and guests

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a QSR or high-volume restaurant environment preferred
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with scheduling, inventory management, labour controls, and team leadership considered an asset
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
