The Crossing Resort is a family owned and operated seasonal employer open from mid-April to mid-October. We are in Banff National Park, 80 kms north of Lake Louise, Alberta on the Icefield's Highway. The Parkway is marketed as one of the top ten most scenic drives in Canada.

The Crossing boosts the best hiking the Canadian Rockies has to offer.

Transitioning to this work and lifestyle adventure could not be easier!

We provide staff accommodation and all meals and snacks for less then $400/month! The Crossing will train, provide uniforms, all bed and bathroom linens as well as some amenities.

Duties for this job

  • We are a remote and self-sustaining summer resort producing and maintaining our own water and hydro.
  • On site Diesel Generator which requires daily checking, recording and minor repairs
  • The maintenance person will work with all departments and their managers to ensure all equipment is well maintained.
  • Carry all tasks in timely fashion.
  • Maintain regular work schedule as outlined.
  • Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the Motel , Associate Accommodation , Administration Building , Restaurant, Cafeteria, General Store and common areas properties while maintaining the highest standard of quality
  • Daily duties to maintain the upkeep of all facilities including restaurants, kitchen, laundry, general store, guest rooms etc.
  • Consistent checking and testing of drinking water.
  • Ensure all waste lines and holding tanks are checked on a daily basis.
  • Sewage facility monitoring and recording daily.
  • Cleaning and replacing water filters multiple times throughout a day
  • Frequent interaction with coworkers, management and guests
  • Ensure all guests requests are handled as promptly as possible
  • Observe dress code and wear appropriate footwear
  • Report to work in a clean uniform and clean shaven
  • Complete repairs to guest rooms and other areas of motel, and assist with major repairs
  • Complete yard work as required including snow removal, gardening, mowing lawns, sorting bottles and cans, garbage pick up, sweeping etc.
  • Repair or replace plumbing fixtures (sinks, urinals, taps, toilets, flush meters etc.)
  • Assist other departments as required, including guest services, unloading and loading supply, etc.
  • Ensure adequate upkeep of mechanical equipment
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
  • Install appliances and equipment
  • Check safety systems (eg. fire alarm ,smoke detectors)
  • Tracking and performing preventative maintenance
  • Garbage removal as necessary
  • This position responds to daily service work order request submitted by employees and guests and we would provide immediate assistance (such as: plumbing, roof leaks, sewer backups, malfunctions of doors, locks and other maintenance urgencies)
  • Completion of daily routine requirements
  • You could be painting, installing a new ceiling fan, unclogging sewage line, or fixing leaking faucet. No two days are the same!
  • Work is performed both inside and outside regarding of conditions (winter,spring,summer and fall)
  • Report and complete all projects and tasks as assigned

  • Ability to make constant radio contact on English on a daily basis with all departments on property

  • Operating push, ride on lawn mower, weed eater and trimmers.
  • Knowledge of power tools, hand tools and their uses (tools provided)
  • Ability to manage large workloads and demands, and effectively multitask.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving abstract.
  • Prior maintenance experience in a motel/hotel environment
  • Frequently able to lift up to 50lbs Occasionally up to 100lb
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude
  • Mature, energetic, dependable and self-motivated

  • Busy. You need to be prepared for a physical working environment with walking, stair climbing, bending, reaching, lifting etc.
