Full job description

ICALC Learning Centre is a Christian tutoring school that provides high-quality academic support to students from Grades 1 to 12. We are committed to helping students develop strong literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills in a supportive learning environment.

Our weekly English classes are held in person and typically begin at 4:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday, with classes running throughout the day on Saturdays.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated part-time English teachers to join our team. Applicants must currently reside in Canada and be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Compensation

  • Performance-based year-end bonus
  • Expected working hours: 5–15 hours per week

Academic and Other Qualifications

  • Native-level English proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, English Literature, Education, or a related field.
  • Minimum two years of teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Experience teaching native English-speaking students in Canadian schools is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in tutoring high school students is preferred.
  • Experience teaching SAT, AP English, IB English is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Passion for helping students grow academically and personally.
  • Ability to serve as a positive Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lesson plans independently based on student needs and learning goals.
  • Teach English writing, reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and literature.
  • Assign and mark weekly homework.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Help students learn how to effectively organize and express their ideas in writing.
  • Teach students to deliver short speeches, book reports, presentations, and other oral communication tasks commonly assigned in school.
  • Prepare students for academic success in school and standardized assessments when appropriate.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Academic Director regarding student progress.

Availability

  • Tuesday to Friday evenings (typically beginning at 4:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.)
  • Saturday availability is strongly preferred.
