Machinist (Manual + CNC) - Day Shifts | Ottawa

Job Description

Build precision parts. Own your setups. Work on diverse, high-quality projects.

We’re hiring an experienced Machinist who thrives in a job shop environment—not repetitive production. If you enjoy setting up your own work, solving machining challenges, and producing tight-tolerance, high-precision components (including military-grade), this is the role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Own full job setups from drawings, sketches, and blueprints
  • Determine materials, tooling, speeds & feeds, and machining approach
  • Run manual and CNC mills, lathes, saws, and grinders
  • Perform test runs and in-process inspections to ensure tight tolerances
  • Work on a variety of parts (20+ regularly in rotation)—no repetitive runs
  • Maintain clear, accurate documentation for quality and compliance
  • Troubleshoot machining or process issues to keep jobs on track
  • Perform basic machine maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, adjustments)
  • Collaborate with team members and follow strong safety practices

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years machining experience (manual + CNC)
  • Strong ability to work with tight tolerances and precision measurements
  • Confident reading blueprints and technical drawings
  • Solid math and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with setups, adjustments, and troubleshooting
  • Comfortable managing multiple jobs and priorities

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Acu-Rite MillPWR (or similar controls)
  • 2-axis / 3-axis machining experience
  • Background in precision or military-grade manufacturing
