Heritage Stewardship & Archaeology Unit (HSAU) Operations Lead

Stó:lō Service Agency (SSA) requires the services of a Heritage Stewardship & Archaeology Operations Lead to work with the Heritage Stewardship and Archaeology Unit (HSAU) within the Stó:lō Research and Resource Management Centre (SRRMC). Pursuant to section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code, preference may be given to applicants of Aboriginal ancestry. Please self-identify on your cover letter or resume.

The HSAU Operations Lead supports the delivery of cultural heritage assessment projects conducted by archaeologists and field technicians within S’ólh Téméxw – Stó:lō Traditional Lands. The position coordinates project logistics, permitting, scheduling, safety systems, project intake, financial tracking, reporting, and operational workflows to ensure efficient project delivery. The HSAU Operations Lead also provides direct support to Operations Assistants and helps create and maintain the operational systems that enable archaeologists and field technicians to work effectively.

The successful candidate will work out of the Chilliwack office. Reporting to the HSAU Manager.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Post-secondary courses in office administration, business administration, operations management or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of working experience in operations coordination, or project support roles.
  • Proficient with computers: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and various video conferencing platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate task prioritization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team building, analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of working in service of Truth and Reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.
  • Ability to maintain a healthy working relationship with staff, community staff, members, and representatives of other organizations.
  • Must adhere to the confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning clients, staff and SSA.
  • Experience with financial tracking, invoicing processing, or reconciliation supports is an asset.

Successful candidates will be required to provide the following if screened in for an interview:

  • Proof of education documentation.
  • Professional references: Names and email addresses of two references.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Drivers’ License.
  • Must successfully pass the required pre-employment Ministry of Justice Criminal records Check.

Salary Range: $28.00-$33.00 based on qualifications/experience.

Type of Position: Full-time with benefits, subject to 3-month probationary period and planned performance evaluations.
