Job Title: Acute Respite Care Nurse
Schedule: Casual Permanent
Type of Work: Days and Evenings
Shifts: 12-hour shifts (days, nights, and weekends)
Hourly Rate: $35.00 to $45.00

Carecor Health Services is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care within a specialized healthcare setting. In this role, you will support a 24/7 short-term medical respite program that offers individuals experiencing homelessness, housing insecurity, or social isolation a safe and supportive environment to recover from acute medical conditions, illness, injury, or surgery. The program also includes four dedicated beds for individuals recovering from transition-related surgeries, ensuring compassionate and specialized care throughout their recovery journey.

Job Qualifications

• Current R.N. Registration with the Ontario College of Nurses.
• BScN preferred, or extensive nursing experience.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Experience obtained in acute care and mental health is preferred.
• At least three years’ experience working with individuals who are marginalized by their social location by social location for reasons including gender identity (2SLGBTQ, particularly trans, communities), homelessness, poverty, sexual orientation, and/or residency status using trauma-informed and anti-oppressive practices.
• Experience working with individuals who face mental health and substance use issues.
• Knowledge of the health and social issues faced by diverse 2SLGBTQ communities and in particular trans communities, in Ontario.
• Demonstrated knowledge of clinical theories and practices, and the basic determinants of health.
• Demonstrates an understanding of working within an anti-oppression framework.
• Knowledge of available resources is accessible to clients (i.e., food banks, local shelters, mental health programs, etc.).
• Willing to undergo Vulnerable Sector Police Check as a condition of hire
